What’s in the app

Everything WhoIsNear does today.

Post what you want to do, see who nearby wants the same, and connect on your terms. Here’s the whole picture — the board, Spark, your Trusted Circle, SOS and the controls over what you share.

Features

The parts, one by one.

Intentions Board

Say what you want to do right now. Your intent carries its own window and disappears when that window closes.

Spark

One tap to react to someone’s intent — join, ask when, offer help. A chat opens only when you both agree.

Trusted Circle

The people you approved, and only them. Approval goes both ways and you can remove someone at any time.

Nearby map

See approved contacts who are close by, with one-tap actions to say hi, ask to join, or make a plan.

Chat

Talk once you’ve both agreed to. Plans and contextual actions open a draft for you to read before anything sends.

SOS

Reach your whole Trusted Circle with one hold of a button, and see who it reached. Not an emergency service.

Your controls

Location is off until you turn it on, shared only with approved contacts, and you choose what each intent reveals.

Your language

English, Arabic and Hebrew, including right-to-left layouts.

Spark

One tap instead of an awkward opener.

When someone posts an intent, you Spark it — a single tap that says why you’re interested. It belongs to that intent, it ends when the intent does, and a chat opens only if you both choose to.

Nobody has to reply. A Spark expires on its own, so letting one go costs nothing — that’s what makes it easy to send.

Join

I’m in — count me there.

Interested

Maybe. Tell me a bit more.

Ask when

What time are you thinking?

Ask where

Which place did you mean?

Offer help

I can help with that.

Connect

Let’s talk.

SOS

When you need your people, fast.

Your Trusted Circle is the people you already approved. SOS is how you reach all of them at once, with one hold of a button, when there isn’t time to explain.

  1. Hold to alert your circleA two-second hold, so it can’t fire from your pocket. A vibration tells you the hold landed.
  2. You see who was reachedThe alert tells you how many of your circle it reached, and names anyone it couldn’t — no false reassurance.
  3. Heard, not just shownYour circle gets a sound, a vibration and a spoken alert in their own language, even with the app already open.
  4. Your last known placeYour circle can see where the app last placed you and open it in Maps to guide someone to you. It’s a last known place, not live tracking.
  5. Local emergency numbersThe right numbers for the country you’re in, with civil-defence listed separately from the ones you call.

WhoIsNear is not an emergency service. It does not call or notify emergency services for you — it alerts the people you chose. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

In development “I am here” is a calm companion we are building: a few short questions, then one thing to do together. It isn’t switched on yet.
What a person in your circle sees: who needs help, their last known place, and one tap to call.
Your trusted circle

Your trusted circle, in context.

Location sharing is based on permission and relationship rules — not open by default. You choose who can see you nearby, and for how long.

  • Start with people you know.
  • Location sharing requires permission.
  • Being in someone’s contacts does not automatically grant access.
  • Location should never be presented as publicly visible by default.

Illustrative — not a live map.

Privacy and control

Shared by choice.

Location sharing by request and approval — not tracking anyone. Control lives with you at every step.

  • No public map of strangers
  • Location sharing requires approval
  • Intents disappear automatically
  • You control who can connect with you
